Blueberryware

Hi All,

Sorry for the extended absence.  I am sure everyone one knows how all consuming work can be.  I wanted to detail a few things I will be releasing by the end of the month so anyone listening out their can look forward to them.

• Blueberry Theme 2.0
  • The 2.0 upgrade will add the ability to create custom gradients to your them.  This feature will be similar to how the default WordPress theme works.  You will also be able to set your background color.  I should be adding about 3 new colors (for those who don’t want to create their own or down have the gd2 library installed on their server).  There should also be a “suggest these colors” option where if someone creates a nice color set, they can send it here and we can create a new color option.
• Awesome pages plugin
  • This plugin is both a widget and a shortcode.  The widget allows multiple instances of itself and is a wrapper for the wp_list_pages function.  The shortcode is also a wrapper for the wp_list_pages function.  I use the plugin to expand the CMS functionality of WordPress
• I am going to be looking for a nice code highlighter plugin (for PHP), if I don’t find one I will create one and release it.
• I should be creating a walk through on creating plugins and what you’ll need to know for creating a plugin for WordPress 2.7 (this might be early November, concurrent with WordPress 2.7’s official release).
• I will be updating the email escape plugin to 2.0
  • Escape Email 2.0 will be using add a “lazy mode.”  Lazy mode will use output buffering to scrape the entire page for email addresses and escape them, you won’t even need to use the shortcode.  I will probably also allow the shortcode to work for both emailescape and escapeemail, mainly because I frequently confuse the two.  

There are a few things I am hoping to get out in November too.  Check ‘em out:

• If the official PHPDoc for WordPress keeps its current theme, I will add the 2.7 API using my favorite theme.
• I have been using PHP Free Chat on a site, so far I like its extensibility.  I will most likely release a plugin that allows integration between the WordPress user list and PHP Free Chat.
• I spoke with the author of List Pages Plus (an extention of wp_list_pages), and I may allow my Awesome Pages Plugin to optionally wrap that function instead of just wp_list_pages. (download list pages plus)
• I also had a quick conversation with the author of the Search Everything plugin.  If time permits I will be adding search functionality for the wp-ecommerce plugin into his Search Everything plugin.  It would only appear in the options if both plugins were installed as to not confuse the user.  (download search everything)

Okay, I think thats all for now, hopefully I’ll get to a blog post on my impressions of WordPress 2.7 tonight too.  Also we’ve had 1000+ color changes to the blog.  Thanks to everyone who has checked out the demo so far!
